For some reason, many people have a strange obsession with waterfalls, and even those who doesn't, the sight and sound of the roaring waters can be extremely appealing and exciting. While even those miniature fountains we put into our rooms can be beautiful in a way, our planet, of course, has much much more spectacular waterfalls. Whether you're a traveler who wants to see fantastic landscapes or someone who enjoys taking a glimpse into nature's wonders though your computer screen, the waterfalls we listed below will likely catch your attention.

Sutherland Falls, New Zealand

The Sutherland Falls is located in the South Island of New Zealand, and is renown for its paradise-like appearance. It's also quite impressive in height: this filigree waterfall is about 580 meters tall, and is surrounded by the lovely greenness of the plants growing all around. If you'd like to visit this incredible waterfall, the best part of the year could be sometime in the summer, and the least appropriate could be the winter, as the paths usually are safer and better when the weather's warm and dry.

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe/Zambia

With its 107 meter height, this waterfall can't be considered one of the very tallest ones (even though this is undoubtedly a considerable height), but it clearly provides a wonderful sight, and its close environment incredibly diverse in its shapes and colors. Clearly, this waterfall is almost like a balm for the eyes and soul! The Victoria Falls can be visited any time of the year, although long dry periods of time in summer can lessen amount of water in the roaring flows by a little.

The Yosemite Falls is found in California, in the US, and with its 740 meters of height it really is a grandiose waterfall, but it's not only the tallness that makes this waterfall stand out from the rest. It is surrounded by the diversity of plants and geological forms, and when you look at it from a distance, it might seem as if the waterfall would nearly touch the sky. It really is something extraordinary that's worth exploring, and can be visited throughout the year.

Iceland has mesmerizing landscapes which are dominated by the diversity of geological forms and the bright, lively green color of the plants. The Gullfoss Falls just increases the magnificence of this unique land, and while this waterfall is only 32 meters tall, it still is very popular among those who want to see something extraordinary and beautiful. If you prefer hikes in warmer weather, you should visit this waterfall in the summer.
